Bulldogs Dominate During Holiday Break

The boys and girls basketball teams dominated their opponents during the last days of the holiday break. The boys won over St. Joseph Central, 65-50, and the girls clobbered the Ruskin Golden Eagles, 74-21.

The girls hosted Ruskin on Thursday, January 4, and the score remained close through the first quarter. The Bulldogs enjoyed a 5-point lead, 17-12. In the second quarter, Kearney stepped up their defense and didn’t allow the Eagles to score. The offense came alive and added 21 points to their total, bringing the score to 38-12 at the end of the first half.

The girls kept the pedal down during the second half, scoring 28 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Kayla Resler came into the game on fire at the end of the first half and remained hot through the second half. She scored an amazing 5 for 5, 3-point field goals and 1 shot to be the team’s scoring leader with 17 points.

Brooke Paalhar was right behind Resler in scoring with 15 points. Addie Taylor scored 8, Kennedi Casey and Jocelyn Lincoln each scored 7, and Gracie Bomar, Ryleigh Van Emmerik, Alyssa Quick, JoJo Kutch and Briana Reynolds also contributed to the Bulldogs’ score.

The boys hosted the Indians from St. Joseph Central on Friday, January 5 and dominated throughout the game.

The Bulldogs dominated throughout the game and controlled the tempo during the matchup. Kearney settled in and kept control of the ball in the second half with precision set plays.

Davin Hanna was the leading scorer with 25 points thanks to some nice back door cuts and wide-open layups. Drew Wilson came in second with 13. Harvey Sayon and Aiden Sallee came away with 9 each.
