We passed a balanced budget on time that I believe is responsive to the needs of the citizens - Clay County Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte

Highlights of the 2024 budget include the addition of two assistant prosecutors to the Prosecuting Attorney’s office, a 10% increase in funding for preserving county roads, and funding for studies to determine needed improvements at the Clay County Detention Center and the Rooney Justice Center.

The 2024 budget also increases the starting salary for Clay County deputies and provides a 5% cost-of-living adjustment for all employees. Also included in this year’s budget is a $3.5 million replacement for the Stockdale Bridge, $3.2 million of which will be paid for through a grant.

“We passed a balanced budget on time that I believe is responsive to the needs of the citizens,” said Clay County Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte. “The process involved in putting this budget together is one of the best in my experience. Kudos to our administrator, staff, and elected officials for their hard work.”
