Akin Completes Sheriffs’ Development Courses

Clay County Sheriff Will Akin joined 24 other sheriffs in attending the National Sheriffs' Institute Leadership Development Course in Quantico, Virginia. This course was a no-cost program that joined 24 sheriffs from across the country. It was provided by the National Institute of Corrections, U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the Major County Sheriffs of America.

The National Sheriffs' Institute program is designed specifically for sheriffs to prepare them for all matters that impact the Office of Sheriff. It is the only program that provides executive leadership courses like these.

The program has two courses of study—the NSI Leadership Development course and the NSI Jail Administration. The Leadership Development course gives new sheriffs the tools to achieve success and strengthens their leadership skills for the job. The Jail Administration course helps sheriffs run a successful jail facility. As of March 24, Sheriff Akin has completed both courses.
