NKC High School Appears to be Swatting Victim

The Clay County Sheriff's Office has announced that a report of a shooting threat at North Kansas City High School has been determined to be unfounded.

The Sheriff’s Office reports the incident to appear to be a possible “swatting” incident very similar to what happened at the school last year. Swatting is making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.

Someone with an accent that was difficult to understand called the North Kansas City Police Department’s non-emergency phone number and reported multiple people had been shot at about 11:50 am, Monday, March 27. No other 911 calls were received to corroborate the report. Deputies and NKCPD officers responded quickly and determined there was no threat.

The school was on lock-and-teach for just a few minutes. The investigation into the source of the false threat still continues.
