Kearney Girls Slip Against Grandview

The Varsity Girls Basketball team lost to the Grandview Bulldogs at home on Tuesday, November 21, in the home opener game of the 2023-24 basketball season.  The score was Grandview 37, Kearney 36.

Kearney started strong in the first quarter, leading Grandview 11-9, and the score remained close at the close of the half with Grandview leading 23-21.

In the third quarter, Kearney fell into a lull, allowing Grandview to stretch the gap 33-26. Kearney was able to close the deficit in the fourth quarter and lead Grandview in the last 1:11 of the game. Sophomore Guard Brooke Paalhar scored 2 to put Kearney ahead 36-35.

With 2.5 seconds left, Grandview Junior Guard Jada Smith scored a bucket to pull ahead. In the last play of the game, Kearney Guard Alyssa Quick passed to Paalhar who missed, and Senior JoJo Kutch tried for the putback and also missed. Junior Jocelyn Lincoln took the rebound and made the shot after the buzzer.

Brooke Paalhar led the Kearney Bulldogs with 12 points. Addie Taylor scored 7 points and Jocelyn Lincoln scored 6.

The Lady Bulldogs start the season with a 0-1 record. Their next game is on Monday, November 27, against Staley High School.
