Clay County Deputies, Good Samaritan Rescue Man From Icy Creek

It was 37 degrees out when deputies were dispatched to an 81-year-old man who accidentally drove off of 33 Highway and was stuck in an icy creek on November 17 at about 12:30 p.m. The temperatures did not stop them from jumping in to help.

Clay County deputy Joshua Doss originally responded to the scene after good samaritan Quinton Conway saw the man run off the road. Conway called 911 and then tried to rescue the man before deputies arrived.

Video from two different deputies' body-worn cameras from the Clay County Sheriff Facebook page shows Doss helping the man from his car and pulling him onto the bank of the creek near the road with help from Conway and other deputies.

"We were just there trying to do our jobs," said Doss. "I'm glad that the elderly gentleman was OK."

The man was taken to Liberty Hospital where he was treated and released the same day according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
