Sheriff’s Office Helps Curb Aggressive Driving

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department on Friday, June 14 in a coordinated effort to crackdown on aggressive drivers.

The two agencies have reported an increase in traffic fatalities so far this year. In an effort to curb aggressive driving habits, police were on the lookout for speeders, red light violations, seat belt violations and more.

In just a few minutes officers were writing tickets to drivers for these violations.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that they worked 173 traffic stops and issued 121 citations. Officers wrote 48 tickets for speeding, 23 for traffic signal violations, 8 for no driver's license, and 8 with no insurance. Deputies also had one arrest for DWI.
