Liberty Hospital Awarded Primary Stroke Center Certification

Liberty Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s (TJC) Gold Seal of Approval® for Primary Stroke Center Certification. The hospital underwent a rigorous, onsite review in which TJC ensured its compliance with the highest national standards for safety and quality throughout a stroke patient’s duration of care.

Hospital President and CEO Raghu Adiga, MD, said, “Primary Stroke Center certification is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work, and I am very proud of our team for their commitment to provide excellent care to our stroke patients. This certification demonstrates that we respond to stroke quickly and with excellence.”

Primary Stroke Center Certification confirms a hospital’s adherence to consistent, best-practice standards for stroke care. During a stroke, millions of brain cells are lost every minute, so quick and proper response is essential for best patient outcomes. Data collected by U.S. News & World Report establishes clear metrics to evaluate stroke programs and show that Liberty Hospital is among the top 30 percent of stroke centers in the U.S.

According to the American Stroke Association, stroke is a leading cause of death and serious long-term adult disability. Rapid and effective treatment can save lives while providing the best chance of limiting the extent of long-term damage. According to the Missouri Time Critical Diagnosis System, Liberty Hospital is a Level II Stroke Center, providing definitive care to high volumes of stroke patients within a region.
