Officers Respond to Fight at Worlds of Fun

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office released the details of a large fight that occurred among area teens at Worlds of Fun this weekend.

The Sheriff’s Office states that off-duty deputies who were working security on Saturday, April 8, heard a radio call of a fight involving multiple juveniles and a large crowd at about 7:30 pm. Officials estimate between 100 and 150 teenagers were involved in the incident.

Off-Duty officers from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas City Police, and Worlds of Fun security helped break up the fights and move the crowd out of the park. As officers escorted teens out of the park, fights continued to start.

Officers received reports of a juvenile that displayed a firearm, but they were unable to find that individual or verify that report.

One teenage girl refused to leave the park and assaulted a deputy by punching him in the face. She was arrested and turned over to her parents. The deputy had superficial injuries from the assault.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office say that officers were able to end the fights and disburse the crowd by 8:30 Saturday evening.
