Former Student Charged with Terrorist Threat

A Kansas City, Kansas man who allegedly made several threatening social media posts at William Jewell students is now in custody. The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office charged former Jewell student, Dominic A. Lee, 21, with making a terrorist threat.

The Liberty Police Department announced that Lee was a “person of interest” after they were notified of the threat on Monday, February 27. “Lee has been known to have access to weapons in the past and should be considered dangerous as we believe he may be experiencing a mental health crisis,” Liberty Police social media stated.

On March 2, Liberty Police announced that Lee has been in contact with them and that he is receiving mental health treatment. “We want to thank everyone who reported their concerns to our department,” Liberty Police Department stated. “This is a great example of if you see something, say something.”

Lee is currently in custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at an area hospital. The Clay County Prosecutor's Office charged Lee with a class D felony of making a terrorist threat. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
