Spring Forward and Check Batteries this Sunday

More sunlight is in our future – don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed on Saturday.

Daylight Savings Time begins at 2:00 am on Sunday morning which means you’ll enjoy an extra hour of daylight in the evenings.

The Kearney Fire and Rescue Protection District encourages residents to use Daylight Savings Time as a reminder to check their home smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms. If needed, old batteries should be changed for new ones.

It’s also a good time for families to review their safety procedures, escape routes, and outside meeting places in case their home catches on fire.

If you or someone you know needs assistance in testing alarms or changing batteries, you can call the Kearney Fire Department at 816-628-4122 for help.
