Traffic Incidents Down over Christmas Holiday

Missouri State Highway Patrol traffic crash investigations this Christmas holiday weekend were down nearly 60% compared to Christmas 2022.

According to a Patrol press release, troopers investigated 124 traffic crashes and 71 traffic crash injuries over the holiday weekend. There were two traffic crash fatalities and 81 DWI arrests.

Last year during the 78-hour Christmas holiday counting period, troopers investigated 306 traffic crashes which included three fatalities and 84 injuries. Troopers arrested 52 people for driving while impaired in 2022.

There were no boating crashes or drownings over the 2023 Christmas holiday counting period.

The 78-hour counting period, began at 6 pm, Friday, December 22, and ended at 11:59 pm, Monday, December 25, 2023.
