Coach Jones Leaves Oregon

Former Kearney Head Coach Greg Jones is stepping down as defensive analyst at the University of Oregon. Jones made the announcement on Twitter on January 8, but did not say what his next move would be.

After coaching at Kearney High School, Jones took the head coach position at Liberty North High School. The University of Oregon Ducks recruited Jones early in 2022, through Head Coach Dan Lanning who was also from the Kansas City area.

Jones reminisced on his time with the Ducks in his announcement.

“I will greatly miss the amazing fans and the atmosphere in Autzen Stadium,” Jones tweeted. “I have always said, life is not about places, but about people. At Oregon, you have both.”

The Oregon Ducks beat North Carolina at the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, 28 – 27 on December 28.
