Motorcyclist Sustains Critical Injuries in Crash

Jason Kissick, 49, of Smithville, and has been charged with second-degree assault

A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries due to a collision with a car at the Smithville Lake Dam on Sunday evening. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene on Litton Way near Missouri Highway DD, next to Smithville Lake at 7:40 pm on Sunday.

When the deputies arrived, they found a Chevrolet Cruze had collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in the hospital in very critical condition.

The driver of the Cruze was Jason Kissick, 49, of Smithville, and has been charged with second-degree assault in this crash. More charges are possible as investigation continues.
