Amphitheater Season Opens with the Blues

The 2022 Kearney Amphitheater season opens this Saturday, and to kick off the season, Kearney brings back its annual blues festival at Jesse James Park. The festival is bringing in three acts to perform this year: Levee Town, Mike Bourne & Kansas City Boogie, and Womanish Girl.

Levee Town has been on the blues scene both locally & internationally since 2002. The band features Brandon Hudspeth on Guitar/ vocals, Jacque Garoutte on bass/vocals & Adam Hagerman on drums. Levee Town covers a wide range of roots/blues/Americana song styles. Tryin’ to Keep my Head above the Water was released March 19 on all music platforms.

Mike Bourne has been knocking audiences out around the globe with his unique style of jump blues, blues and roots music in clubs like the House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe, Buddy Guys Legends and Festivals including the Roots and Blues Festival, the International Jazz and Blues festival in Manila, and the Coleman Hawkins Blues Festival.

He's recorded and played with legends including Otis Rush, Sam Lay (Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan's drummer), Barrel House Chuck, and many more. After long stints in Chicago and Atlanta, now he's back home with his latest band Kansas City Boogie.

Mike has joined forces with harp ace Pedro Squella, longtime KC bassist Cardy Quintero and veteran drummer Bryan Herrman, and their high energy show already has the town buzzing with weekly Thursday gigs in downtown Kansas City.

Womanish Girl is a blues/rock power trio featuring Katy Guillen & Stephanie Williams from Kansas City.

Amphitheater gates open at 4 pm on Saturday, May 28, and the show starts at 5 pm. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $10.00 at the Gate. Advanced tickets can be purchased through KearneyAmphitheater.com.
