Bulldog Girls Fall to Warriors

In a game where the wind was literally the 12th player on the pitch, the Bulldog Girls Soccer team fell to Smithville on Tuesday, 3-0.

The lady Bulldogs traveled west on 92 Highway to play the Smithville Warriors, and dominated the play most of the first half, taking multiple shots on goal. Unfortunately the girls just could not find the back of the net. The Bulldogs and Warriors went into halftime tied 0-0.

The second half started with tired legs for both teams, but the Warriors had the wind with them. It did not take long for the Warriors to take advantage of the elements to begin pounding Kearney’s goalkeeper, Junior Kylie Deason, with shot after shot.

After Smithville’s first goal, Deason left the game with soreness in her wrist due to an injury during warm-ups. Junior Kayla Rinehart threw on her gloves to take Deason’s spot. Kearney’s defenders put up their best fight, attempting to boot the ball away from goal, but Smithville was able to slip by 2 more goals, ending the game 3-0.

The Bulldogs are 2-2 on the season and return home to host the Winnetonka Griffins on Thursday, April 14, at 6:30 pm.
