March Winter Storm to Impact Kearney

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Kansas City area, which includes Kearney. The warning goes into effect at 9 pm Wednesday night and continues through 6 am Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely to start after midnight. Snow accumulation of up to 2 inches is expected overnight. Snowfall could be heavy at times throughout the day on Thursday, and total snow accumulations of three to eight inches are possible during this storm.

Travel could be difficult during this winter storm, as drivers may experience snow and ice packed roads and blowing and drifting snow. Hazardous conditions could impact morning and evening commutes, and motorists are encouraged to stay home on Thursday if possible.

Temperatures will remain in the low 20s most of Thursday, and Northeast winds will be blowing 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph.
