Police and Deputies Recognized by TRI-CIT

Several area police officers and deputies were honored for their service by Tri-County Mental Health Services and TRI-CIT (Tri-County Crisis Intervention Team) Council at an awards ceremony on Thursday, December 1.

Among those who were recognized for their outstanding work in CIT and peer support were:

Clay County Sergeant Jeff Harman was named Peer Supporter of the Year

Clay County Lieutenant Tracy Wade received Detention Personnel of the Year

Clay County Corporal Bear McCulley was awarded Youth CIT Officer of the Year

Liberty Police Department Communications Supervisor Jerry Clark was awarded the TRI-CIT Telecommunicator of the Year

Smithville Police Sergeant Jim Morgan received the award for CIT Coordinator of the year

  • Clay County Major Phil Coffer also was honored for serving the past two years as TRI-CIT's law enforcement chair

TRI-CIT is a council consisting of local law enforcement and mental health professionals. Their goal is to help provide training for police officers to be able to better handle situations where someone is having mental health crisis.
