Cross Country Girls Earn 4th Place

The Kearney High School Girls Cross Country team brought home their second straight state trophy this year with their fourth-place finish at the championship meet on Friday, Nov. 4.

The Bulldogs earned third place in the 2021 State Championship. They are the only Kansas City area Missouri Class 4 girls team to earn a trophy in both years. They have also claimed conference and district championships for two years in a row.

The KHS Cross Country team is led by Head Coach Jeff Roberts and Assistant Coach Justin Leon.

  • Liela Murphy was 26th with a time of 20:01, just missing All-State by one place

  • Alex Kinstler was 29th in 20:13.

  • Abby Elam was 31st in 20:21

  • Abbi McQuillen was 38th in 20:36

  • Olivia Brock in 49th place in 21:00

  • Heidi Adams was 58th in 21:11

  • Gracie Bomar 87th in 21:46

 

The Kearney Boys Cross Country team finished 16th at the state meet.

  • Kyler Chappell was 94th in 18:04

  • Bradly Barton was 122nd in a personal best of 18:35

  • Rylee Johnson 140th in 19:10

  • Max Morehouse 147th in 19:25

  • Cameron Daniel 150th in 19:40

  • Jackson Elsea 153rd in 19:51

  • Carter Smith 154th in 19:55
