Bulldog Sports Recap

The Bulldogs were back in action on courts and on mats last week. Here is the KPGZ Sports Recap:

Varsity Girls Basketball

The Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to Park Hill South for a non-conference game. Final score: Park Hill South 43, Kearney 16.

Jadyn Barnes led the Bulldogs in scoring with 7 points and Gracie Bomar finished with 6 points. Freshman Jocelyn Lincoln was the leading rebounder pulling down 5 boards.  

The loss brings the varsity's record to 2-7. This week is the 47th annual Kearney Classic Tournament. The Bulldog girls will play on Monday vs St. Joe Lafayette at 6:30.

Varsity Boys Wrestling

On January 6, the Boys Varsity Wrestling team played host to the Belton Pirates. The Bulldogs put together a complete team performance and pulled out a 34-20 dual win over a quality Belton team.

Highlights on the night came from 4 freshman in the Varsity lineup:

Ryder Shelton Decision 7-0

Brennen Green Major Decision 9-0

Blaine Turpin Sudden Victory win 4-2

Eli Helberg Sudden Victory win 3-1

The Varsity is now 9-2 for the dual season. The Boys team is back in action this Saturday. The JV will be at home for the annual Kearney JV Invitational and the Varsity will travel to the Excelsior Springs Tiger Classic.

Junior Varsity Girls Basketball

The Junior Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to Ruskin on January 6, for a conference matchup. The JV jumped out in front with good defense leading to many fast break layups. The final score was 56-16 in favor of the Bulldogs. Ryleigh Van Emmerik led the way with 18 points.
