Downtown Kearney Hosts Oktoberfest

The Kearney Enrichment Council is having another community-wide event; the Enrichment Council is coordinating Oktoberfest 2021 this year on October 2, in downtown Kearney.

In the past the event took place at the Jesse James Park, but this year the Enrichment Council is bringing the event downtown with activities for everyone.

The all-day event takes place in three locations around the city and begins with Kearney's Farmers and Artisan's Market opening up at 8 am in Lion’s Park. Other events at the park include gingerbread necklaces, story time, best dressed dog contest, alpine craft hats, axe throwing, food trucks, live music, and beer garden.

On Washington Street there will be a kid's carnival with face painting, cotton candy, inflatables, and crafts, yard games, beer garden, a keg toss competition sponsored by Bea's Flowers and Gifts, a barmaid competition sponsored by Singleton and Son, and a keg rolling competition. Also on Washington Street there will be performances by the Kearney High School Golden Girls, and Studio 320, as well as live music on the Nelson Home Group Main Stage.

The Old Church Plaza has also has several family-friendly activities like a digital scavenger hunt, photo wall, and bingo. There is also a brat eating contest, pie eating contest, and a cornhole contest, beer garden and car show.
