City of Kearney Launches Refurbished Website

The City of Kearney launched its newly redesigned website this week at www.kearneymo.us. The new design features a more user friendly experience, a news section, organized pages with easy to find information, and beautiful high resolution images of Kearney locations and events.

The much-needed redesign of the City’s website increases the overall user experience for visitors. The City organized all of its content under four major tabs that make topics easier to find.

The first thing that catches the user’s eye on the home page is a high resolution image of Kearney’s fireworks display at Jesse James Park. At the top, the navigation section has been paired down to four topics with subsections for easy organization and navigation.

The side navigation bar on the home page provides links that residents use most often: contact, water bill look-up, meetings and agendas, and forms and applications.

Users who scroll down the home page will find a section for news updates and a link to a full page version of the City’s calendar.

Pages of interest include:

  • Meeting minutes and agenda items of past board meetings can be found under the Government tab. The City has also included links to the videos of meetings;

  • City department pages including police, fire, parks and recreation are located under the Departments tab;

  • Under the Community tab residents can find information that people commonly ask such as what services are available in Kearney and what is there to do in Kearney;

  • The How Do I tab shares information like applications, finding information, and paying bills and fees for residents and businesses;

  • Water bill look up and payment portal in the side navigation to the left.

Kearney’s newly refurbished website is a welcome improvement in design and user experience. The news section is a great idea to help residents to find out announcements quickly, and the organization of the site makes easy to navigate to information people need to know.
