City leaders and Parks and Recreation personnel were up early Saturday morning after vandals spray painted the splashpad, bathrooms, signs and other park property, just after midnight on July 3.

“Disappointing is an understatement,” said Mayor Randy Pogue, who was at the park cleaning paint from the welcome sign. “Kearney Police detectives are viewing the surveillance video and are working on the case.”

When the city revitalized the park, they placed new video cameras around the park. “We can see them on the video,” Parks Director Eric Marshall stated.

Detectives are reviewing all the video and other evidence, and if they release pictures of the suspects, KPGZ News will post them with this story. This is an on-going investigation and KPGZ News will update this story as it develops.
