Kearney Bulldogs Begin 2021 Season with 17 Returning Lettermen

Kearney’s COVID-shortened football season ended last year with a 5 – 5 overall record that included two district playoff victories and a second-place finish in Class 4, District 8 competition.

Head Coach Josh Gray has a favorable outlook for the 2021 season. “Things are back to normal. I think we did a great job last year with our restrictions and guidelines,” Coach Gray said. “This year, it’s back to the flow. We have 7 on 7 now, we went up to Northwest (Missouri State) for our first team camp, had a great experience up there, competed well and did a really nice job. It feels like a normal year for us – which is good.”

Last year’s Bulldog football team had 22 players chosen for all-conference honors – 13 of which are returning as the foundational leadership of this year’s team.

“We’ve got a great group of seniors coming back that have a done a great job thus far during summer workouts and through camp,” Coach Gray said. “They are definitely paving the way and setting the standard for us this season.”

The Bulldogs open the 2021 season with two away games – at Fort Osage on August 20, and at Platte County on August 27.
