Kearney Man Crashes in Clinton County

A Kearney man was transported to Liberty Hospital in serious condition after crashing into a pole on Saturday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash one mile west of Holt on SE 207th Street at about 8:45pm. According to the report 20 year old James Atkins from Kearney was driving west on SE 207th and failed to negotiate a curve and struck a pole.

The vehicle stayed upright and stopped on the west side of the road. The report indicates that Adkins was not wearing a seatbelt, but does not say that he was ejected from the vehicle due to the crash.

Atkins was arrested for DWI, not wearing a seat belt, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was later released for medical treatment.
