Clay County Commission Resolves More Legal Issues

On March 9, Clay County Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte reported that the Clay County Commission unanimously agreed to end litigation with the Kansas City Star regarding a Sunshine request. “This in the latest in a series of actions by the Commission to drop lawsuits and stop the reckless spending,” said Commissioner Nolte. “Finally we are beginning to deliver the government citizens have been demanding for years.”

The newly elected County Commissioners have been relentless in their efforts to end numerous legal actions that began under the previous commission.

In addition to the resolution of pending legal actions, Nolte said that the commissioners have been accomplishing a number of other issues in an attempt to get the business of the county back on track. In the last week, the commission welcomed Governor Parson to Clay County to discuss workforce development and job creation, met with Operation Safe about funding for vaccinations for Clay County citizens, spoke to the North Kansas City Business Council and the Liberty Business Group on progress in Clay County and moved forward with plans for Clay County's Bicentennial celebration in 2022.

The next Clay County Commission meeting will be Wednesday, March 10, at 6:00 pm in the commissioner meeting room.
