In this occurrence an automated message is played claiming that Platte-Clay will cut off power in 30 minutes if a payment is not made immediately over the phone. Platte-Clay wants to remind consumers that they will never demand you use one specific payment method.

If consumers suspect a caller might be impersonating the cooperative, hang up and call 816-628-3121 to check on your account status. Members can also visit Platte-Clay offices in Kearney and Platte City during regular business hours to speak with a Member Service Representative and verify the status of their account. Account information is also available through PCEC’s online bill pay portal, which can be found on www.PCEC.coop.

If a member believes they have been a victim of fraud they should immediately report the incident to local law enforcement and call Platte-Clay Electric at 816-628-3121 to notify the co-op of the scam.
