Bulldogs Tap Ward as First Girls Wrestling Head Coach

The Kearney Bulldogs wrestling program announced Nick Ward has been selected as Kearney’s first Girls Wrestling Head Coach for the 2020-2021 season.

Ward has been the Boys Varsity Assistant Coach since 2013 and during his tenure in that position the Bulldogs brought home a team state title in 2018 and six total team trophies. Ward also won the Missouri Class 3 assistant coach of the year award during the state title season and has twice earned the district assistant coach of the year award.

Since Girls wrestling was announced as a MSHSAA sanctioned sport in in 2018, Coach Ward has been enthusiastic about recruiting girls into our program. He is passionate about teaching technique and sharing his love of the sport with those around him.

Coach Ward has also served as a coach for the Missouri Cadet and Junior Greco Roman National Team. His coaching and teaching career has included stops in Plattsburg, Versailles, and Lathrop prior to landing in Kearney, Missouri.
