• Sales tax revenue is down $158,000 for the month of July, $382,000 year to date.
• Use tax is up $184,000 for the month of July, $550,000 year to date.
(Use tax is allocated to specific departments according to the Commissioners and the 2001 use tax vote by citizens.)
• Law Enforcement sales tax and Children’s Services sales tax are both down approximately 2% or a total of $184,000 for the year.

Comparing 2020 Actual to Budget:

The 2020 approved budget includes a $585,000 increase in sales and use tax revenue over 2019. The increase is primarily due to an increase in Park Fund revenue of $1.5 million, a $450,000 increase in the Use Tax and a decrease in the General Fund of $1.375 million.

In summary, total sales and use tax is $16,000 below prior year and approximately $350,000 below budget. When the economy opens completely, Nance anticipates that sales tax will return to budgeted levels.
