Clay County voters were asked to decide the fate of Proposition C. Approval of the question would have triggered the circuit court to create a 14-person commission to frame a new form of county government that would be put to voters at a later date. Voters passed this measure by a thin margin. Almost 57% of voters said yes they were in favor of the proposition.

On the Kearney School Board ballot, three, three-year seats were open. Incumbent Dan Holloway was joined by Brian Hamm, Bree Switzer and Chris Shipley on the ballot. Kearney voters decided that Switzer and Hamm will join the Holloway on the School board.

In Kearney’s 2nd Ward, incumbent Alderman Marie Steiner faced challengers Alex Porter and David Lehman. The one open alderman seat carries a two-year term. Kearney voters decided to make a change on that position electing David Lehman with 39.1% of the vote. Marie Steiner had 32.1% and Alex Porter had 27.2% of the vote.

Gerri Spencer ran in Ward 1 and received 69.9% of the vote with write in candidates receiving 30.1% .

Kearney residents also decided if all alderman terms should be changed from two to four years. That question was soundly defeated with a vote of 72.75% voting NO.
