The Clay County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in a car jacking which occurred in Excelsior Springs.

On June 9th at about 1 p.m., a Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation at 69 Highway and Rhodus Road. The driver fled the scene however deputies chose not to initiate a pursuit. A female jumped off the motorcycle and was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

A short time later, Excelsior Springs Police were dispatched to a report of a carjacking. Witnesses identified the motorcyclist involved in the previous incident as the suspect. The victim and a child were able to exit the car unharmed before the suspect fled the scene.
