Chamber Non-Profit Showcase Ends on GivingTuesday

On Tuesday, December 1, people around the globe will come together in unity to show kindness and generosity in all its forms by giving their voice, time, money, goods, and advocacy to support communities and causes. This year the Kearney Chamber of Commerce decided to make a virtual Non-Profit Showcase part of the GivingTuesday movement.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good deeds. It is now an independent non-profit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

The Kearney Chamber made supporting area non-profit organizations easy through its virtual Non-Profit Showcase. The Showcase was created to highlight the extraordinary work of non-profit organizations in the Kearney area. People in the community are able to learn more about what these organizations do, what their current needs are, and how they can help or volunteer in the organizations.

To garner community interest, visitors to the showcase will have the opportunity to register to win $100 Chamber Cash and people will be asked to vote for their favorite participating charity, the winner of which will be awarded a $500 grant.

According to Chamber Executive Director, Stacie Bratcher, “Our goal is to provide a space for our nonprofits to not only share information, but to also truly connect with those looking for ways to get more involved. This will be an event where the nonprofit groups will be able to recruit volunteers and share their most pressing needs.”

Corporate sponsors for this event include Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative, Tracy Tucker State Farm Insurance, Academy Bank, and Hidden Valley Funeral Homes of Kearney. The event’s Presenting Sponsor is D’Creamery.

Lisa Hoffman, D’Creamery co-owner, with her husband Dallas, shared her reason for supporting the event, “the non-profits are very dear to us and really do the most for our community!”

The event will culminate on December 1, the National Day of Giving, otherwise known as GivingTuesday. The winner of the $500 grant and the winner of the Chamber Cash prize will be announced on Wednesday, December 2, at the Chamber Membership Luncheon and shared to social media. To register to win $100 Chamber Cash and vote for your favorite organization, go to the non-profit showcase page on the Kearney Chamber website.
